I'm an on-again, off-again girl about a lot of things, but eating right and being active tend to always end up in the off-again pile. There is a lot of research out there that says it takes time to form a habit, and sometimes I wonder if I just don't push myself hard enough to meet that end point for long-term change.
So, welcome to my 30 day challenge. I'm trying to see if I can change my lifestyle by adapting myself to at minimum 30 days of healthy activity per day. The activity can be anything, even just a simple walk, as long as I do it with the intent of being active, and for 30 minutes straight.
I call this an experiment, but I know that I will get discouraged somewhere along the road. So I'm trying to repackage this for myself as an adventure as well. Not only can I be active for 30 minutes each day, but how will I do it? I started two days ago with a simple walk, and let me tell you - I almost put off day one because my schedule was so packed. And even though it was just a walk by myself it felt so good to just know I did it. So I snapped a picture and logged it on instagram. Day two was easier. Swimming with my daughter, so I was able to be active and have some quality family time simultaneously. Actually spent 45 minutes out that day so that was awesome.
Tonight is day three, and the first one I need to complete after a full day at the office. I have a few options pinging around in my head for what to do, but I guess I need to see how the day shakes out before I actually get it done. It will be an adventure... that's what I tell myself.
I'll feel pretty darn successful if I at least get this all done.
